I just saw on the news a couple of hours ago that Google is getting investigated for anti trust reasons which the government says involves Google deciding unfairly how pages get ranked in search results. When I first heard it I thought "well how dare they! I mean its not like they should be the ones to control their own company and where they think sites should rank!". Anyway after listening further I guess they were more concerned that Google was putting some of the sites they have acquired before other competing sites that have more value. The spokesperson for Google said that basically they don't do that and as proof look at their Google checkout program which doesn't show up in search results over competitors. I was just thinking who cares? Google is Google. You can't let someone set up a company and then once it is so big and powerful that it scares you start trying to tell it what to do.
I think they will be OK. Although I do not understand exactly what their mistake was. Why shouldn't Google promote themselves over others?
It is always danger to be monopoly. Think about those company being pushed to the edge of bankruptcy. Here is another angry people want to sue google google-algorithm-ruins-my-business.blogspot.com Consider how Microsoft lose so many case on antitrust, google has to face this some day.
I think incase they are not ontop of results then can use addwords to make it work, so whats the catch in investigation? they own it and they can do what they want.
Their are just jealous of Google maybe and that they are trying to make a hole out of google. They are trying to bust out something from google that doesn't really exist.
