In what could be a two edged sword for the likes of you and me, Google is forming a political action committee or "PAC" they are calling "Google NetPAC" to raise money for political canidates and political causes. Alan Davidson, Google's Washington policy counsel, The top priority for Google's PAC will be to sway "critical decisions affecting Internet freedom, innovation, and competition." Like I said this could be a very big two edged sword for the likes of us. Remember these are the same guys who brought us June 27th, July 27th, August 17th and Sept. 15th (although I personally liked Sept. 15th). You can read all about it at: http://news.com.com/Google+forms+political+action+committee/2100-1028_3-6116980.html
So it says ... "Google NetPAC will support officeholders and candidates who share Google's goal of preserving and promoting the Internet as a free and open platform for information, communication, and innovation," why should we worry..
Funny they wrote that really, considering they censor their search engine to keep china happy. How is pandering to a dictatorship keeping the internet "a free and open platform"?
Yes, let's talk about that shit again, shall we? Google is after the money, so of course they will agree to abide by China's law and enter a huge market.
2003m2003, this and the insane updates is why we should worry. Regardless of their public statements, their primary concern will be their own intersts. Sometimes this will be in our interest sometimes it will work against our interests.
