For the past few days I have been trying to find out how to create keywords for my local webs. I would only like to have traffic from local searches in my town attracted to my site. I'm having a hard time coming up with the answers so let me tell you what i'm up against.

I'm going to try to make this as simple as possible so here we go.

Lets say I live in houston, tx and I own a shoe store with nike shoes on sale and would like to direct local search traffic to my site through keywords on my site. I understand the site has to be indexed and all that so lets just deal with the keywords and conciser all else done.

Example1 keyword (user input) "NIKE SHOES"

Example1 keyword (site keywords) "NIKE SHOES HOUSTON TX"

How do I get this traffic to my site if the user in not directely searching for the site keyword "NIKE SHOES HOUSTON TX" but is searching "NIKE SHOES" from a houston location?

Is the user geotargeted to my site because they search from houston?

Please help me if you can.

My understanding is that geotargeting is going to bring Nike shoes up to anyone searching from Houston TX. You can also hone it down to zip codes if you want, which might help keep the ad showing only locally. I did that locally with a home rental service and it showed up only in the zip codes I listed. It "should" work for Nike shoes as well!

Maybe I'm not clear with my request. I know what has been said in previous post.

I need to know if there is a way if someone actually does a search in my area for nike shoes.

All keyword search results focus on a global area. I'm looking for something that will tell me how many times something is searched in my town.
