So guys, I signed up here a couple of weeks ago and waited a while to get verified. This is probably my 5th visit here and I'm still feeling a little out of my depth. As my fellow Newbies will ultimately and probably agree, right?

So anyway, I decided to create this thread for all us Newbies that are feeling somewhat out of our depth with all the jargon that is pulsating throughout this forum. The assumption is I suppose, that us Newbies should have some general knowledge as to the context and goal of this forum however, I believe that many users may simply sign up because of the Bold statements which the forum boasts, for example 50/50 adsense distribution and not really make the most of what this forum actually holds.

The actual purpose of this Thread is a starting point, if you like, for everyone to evolve together from a newbie position to a resident experts over time.

    So lets get learning….

So guys, I found this website that can be a starting field for us, (http://www.squidoo.com/beginners-guide-to-adsense).
The title is somewhat provocative ‘AdSense Intro for Idiots’ but I’m sure we can handle a little criticism whilst we learn.

    Any issues raised?

Hey, PostFootball. Yes the website is cool, you should have a look around there is surprisingly more information available there than one initially expects.

So why should we use ad sense? I found a little three step advantage that explains it in three easy to understand steps.

The concept is really simple, if you think about it. The publisher or the webmaster inserts a java script into a certain website.

1). Each time the page is accessed, the java script will pull advertisements from the Adsense program.

2). The ads that are targeted should therefore be related to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad.

3). If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click

So we now know why we should use it, know what do we do. I found this also:

-Read the Terms and Conditions and Program Policies thoroughly.
-Read everything you can about Google Adsense. Learn from others' experiences and mistakes. (Hint: check out the AdSense Group on the website listed above).
-Learn how to optimize your site for the most enjoyable and profitable Google Adsense experience.
-Realize it does take some time and hard work. That's why it's so important that you write about something you care about. Hard work is even harder if you don't like what you're doing.
-Visit other sites that are benefiting from Google Adsense. Click on the ads only if you are truly interested in the product or service being advertised.

    So guys lets discuss…

    you mean adsense and adwords?

adsense is mainly for publisher who would like to earn money from placing
    advertising
adwords is an advertising campaign that will help advertiser connect through to their target marget.

all adwords advertisement placement will be shown on site's adsense. advertiser pay for placing advertisement and pulisher earn money from display advertising and visitor click through it.

Tell me if i understand your question wrong. ;)

Hey tradeya, Thank you for your input, I think I know understand the difference. So adwords is a way for people and business to pay for advertisements that get displayed through adsense? Right?

Yes correct. Money we earn from adsense come from adwords campaign. Advertiser pay for people to display ads, they pay everytime visitor click ads to enter their website (adwords) and publisher got money when people click on the ads that display on publisher site to go to advertiser site (adsense).

the sad fact is money we earn from adsense is just some kind of share revenue from google. Google keep most of the income themselves and give us some part of it. :(

Welcome to DP, but what does your original post have to do with google?
I think this would be more appropriate in the General Chat section.
Try to keep your topics focused on the right section.

Hey I actually did not know what this is, however I searched google and come up with this:

If you are new to PPC, you might have noticed something that says "CTR". CTR stands for "click through ratio". That is the ratio of ad view to clicks on that ad.

For example if you have 100 views to your ad and 10 clicks during those 100 views, you would have a 10% CTR.

To view the full articles go to http://www.payperclickiq.com/2006/07/understanding_ppc_what_is_ctr.html
