Of course this is theory, but if Google wants to find us 'SERP cheating webmasters' then now is their chance. With a Co-op that just got wasted, and with all the PR selling websites that will drop, they soon could find out which sites lose backlinks the most fastest? Just theory, as it would be a hell of a job finding out, as all sites have natural links as well otherwise they wouldnt have a high co-op weight and all.. All my sites were already high ranked.... But still..
I don't understand what you are proposing has changed. The Coop was always visible to Google. We aren't hiding anything
If Google wanted to 'find' the Coop, they could have months ago. Apparently they are too busy creating a portal than worrying about their search results.
True, we wont get any police at our doors. But does Google like networks like Co-op? I bet no, as it has too much artificial influence on SERPs. More than they would I like I guess.
Charity test? Yeah saw it. Uhm, you mean the effect it has? Yeah I know how much IMPACT the Co-op has. I am a member. I just think that company itself, dont like it, if people try to have influence on the results. They would like the results to be natural. From natural linking. Co-op is not really natural.
Nothing in SEO is truly natural. A link exchange isn't natural. Buying links based on SEO power isn't natural. If you took an entirely natural approach you wouldn't make much money.
I AM a user of the co-op and agree to the above. If you would be natural, you wouldnt be in a dmoz, or optimizing etc. So I perfectly agree. My post wasnt to take too serious, check the smiley in the title. I got like 2 negative votes for this post probably webmasters that just worry too much or cant sleep at night because theey are working in a virtual market. Whatever I just thought I had a funny idea. Co-op WAS dead for a day or two.
Your post didn't warrant a negative and I wouldn't worry about it. This is the place you discuss these kinds of things. If you really wanted to run with this idea, you should persue it from the angle of doing away visible PR. Thats much more of a reality and concern (highlighted by it actually being down for a few days), and a topic of discussion that would be interesting. Don't take the red too personally. Any post even hinting at a negative of the Coop seems to get a red. As long as you have an open mind, it doesn't hurt to post your thought process.
