Whats your take on this news (link below)...apparently drawing out of the chinese market is the least of their concerns.....they might have a rival the new 'Google' advertisers may soon be flocking to because of the more interactive approach it has between seller and buyer:

    Your thoughts please:

Dont worry G will remain king for many years. 70% of facebook is made of spam and dummy accounts :D

people spam it more than any other site.

I have a friend who got 1853 accounts on facebook alone..

There are really only a few companies that could pull it off and their changes are still slim to none.

In my own experiences, Google needs to change itself. Let us remember the past Yahoo. Anything on the Internet would be possible :)

    Thanks,

Just like myspace, facebook will soon become obsolete. Google knows how to promote longevity. Social media is the next best thing, which will soon be surpassed by the next next best thing.

Facebook has already overtaken Google in the rankings, and now they will duke it for number one and two. However, Google's profit is much, much higher. They monetize better than Facebook. Facebook also is not a search engine, so they have no worries there. It will be the top search engine for years to come. They'll have their ups and downs but Google I think is like Microsoft, here to be influential for many years to come.

You seem quite a loyal Google supporter :)
In the US alone seems that facebook are getting more visitors than Google, what if Facebook sort of do something special? Maybe create their own search engine adn foce their users to use it or something lie that. If they manage to surpase Google and their popularity continue to increase Google may have a competition their.
Youtube? Its a big weight in terms of cost for Google despite its popularity. Also not to mention with the updated HD and more advance technology we may well see new video sites ready to take Youtube's spot.

One thing that made google great is that it has huge volumes of data which its able to tailor ads and search results, any new competitor coming into the field, will be two steps behind them. Google reminds me of Microsoft and how they cornered the os market. Unless they mess up, search is google's market.

I have seen many of companies trying to match with Google paid services like Adword / Adsense. Most of them were great but all of them already lost to Google. I do still have no clue why.

    1. YPN just made official announced about their closing in service at the end of April 2010.

    2. I bet you might have heard some of this names as Adsense competitor - Widgetbucks / Kontera / Chitika / MSN Adcenter Publishing Network / Clicksor / Adbrite / Bidclix / Bidvertisers / etc. Most of them never had a chance to compete with Adsense really.

    3. I do wonder if some of Adword competitor ever has a chance to compete with Adword really - Facebook Ads / Adbrite / Clicksor / Bidvertiser /Chitika / Adtoll / MSN Adcenter / Looksmart / 7Search

Bottom Line - I hope to see some real competitor to Adword. It could force Adword lower the cost per click. :)

I don't think they'll ever be of sufficient scale to compete with Google. The big G is here to stay.

The fact that facebook pulled in more traffic than google last month is actually impressive on its own, end of the day its not about competing it just comes to show with an original idea anyone can get that much traffic, even surpass google

Don't underestimate Baidu, the chinese search engine and Yandex, the russian search engine. Both are getting stronger and stronger.
But I also believe Google will be dominant still for a long time.
