At the beginning of this year, I set up the RSS feed for my website blog using Google Feedburner. Therefore I login with my Google account, go to Feedburner under Google Account Settings, and can see how many subscribers i have etc.. Let's say for example that I called my feedburner feed "myblog". Whenever I posted a new blog post, I could go to http://feeds.feedburner.com/myblog and the new blog post would be there at the top. Granted it did take about 48hours until the new blog post would appear at http://feeds.feedburner.com/myblog but it worked. This means that all the people who have subscribed to my feed via RSS or email would receive my new posts. I know that this worked because I'm subscribed via both email and RSS - gotta test my work Everything was working great for the last 6 months, until a couple of weeks ago. The last 3 blog posts that I posted have not appeared at http://feeds.feedburner.com/myblog Also, I haven't received any RSS message in my Google reader like I normally do, and i haven't received the emails for the last 3 blog posts. (3 blog posts missing, the first being posted almost 3 weeks ago) The strange this is that Google has definitely crawled my blog. When I search for the title of these 3 blog posts in google.com, I find them. Also, I setup Google Alerts for my website name, and saw my blog posts there too. So why are they not in my feedburner suddenly? I have not changed my feedburner or feed settings. But a few weeks ago I did use pingoat(dot)com to submit my RSS feed to a pinging service. This is the first time that I ever used a pinging service and I thought if anything it might get me some links or a few more random visitors. But is it possible that this has screwed my RSS feed?
Hi jaxda, i had a similar problem once due to copying a word document into my blog. This included some symbols that didn't translate from word correctly eg. " ; and so appeared in my blog as a funny symbol. This couldn't be read in feedburner and resulted in the feed not working. Once i corrected it all was fine. Worth a look. Cheers
Have you gone into Feedburner's "Troubleshootize" section for your feed? There are a lot of tips in there for fixing feed problems, such as pinging not working properly, and the overall size of your feed. As a last resort, they offer the re-sync button, which they try to steer you away from unless it is absolutely necessary. But I have found it to be a fairly benign action which often helps fix things.
Thank you for both of your replies. I have posted a few blog posts since I started this thread. The first one appeared in the feed about 12 days after I posted it. The second one appeared in the feed 6 days after I posted it. And the third one appeared in the feed just 2 days after I posted it. So it looks like the feed is "catching up" with my blog. I have not changed anything, however I do write my blog posts in Word first and then copy and paste them into my blog so that could be a reason. I also noticed that the apostrophes and quotation marks (i.e. ' and " ) appear a little odd when I copy and paste them from Word. So I would have to go through the blog post and change them. Perhaps that is part of the reason. I will monitor this as I continue posting stuff on my blog. If it gets worse again, I'll take a look at that "Troubleshootize" section that you suggested, Algocomm. Thanks for your help!
