Google External Links also updated (webmaster tools) I had a huge jump in my backlinks... To check you need to go to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/siteoverview Click on your site...and click on 'links' Then click on 'Pages with external links' If you dont have this already....then you need to add your links there. Good tool to have
This updates more often than Pagerank, actually much more often. Lets hope everyone doesn't decide to make a new thread when this happens.
actually i haven't seen it update since the last PR update. the link command on Google may update, but I saw a huge amount of links coming in.
there are a few threads that have been asking when is google going to update their backlinks. they haven't done it since the last PR update. The general opinion was that they only update it when they do a PR update
That general opinion was wrong, Google updates the external link data quite often, as with the link: search operator results.
so why has my external links been the same since the last update? I understand that google updates their backlinks regularly, but they dont show it in the link command or webmaster tools. This is one of the reasons why everyone asks ' Why doesnt Google show all my backlinks? '
Good question, but why do my external links for some of my websites update weekly and others monthly? Who knows, but to say they only update during "visible" pagerank updates is false. Google shows them all in Google Webmaster's Central, the data isn't real-time but they ALL are provided there. The link operator is used to show a sample of inbound linking websites to that said URL.
