Google explains "politically slanted" search results

    This is interesting.

Last night I was looking up what Wikipedia had on Google Bombs. These are those attempts by people to try to force Google to return a particular top result for some term (i.e.; "failure" returns George Bush biography, "liar" returns Tony Blair biography, etc.)

Anyway the Wikipedia piece includes a list of some of the more popular Google Bombs.

As I was typing into Google some of the more "political" ones I noticed that Google has the top AdWords "Sponsored Link" on some of these pages. Their AdWords "ad" is nothing more than an explanation of why "these results may seem politically slanted". Clicking on the ad takes you to a Google page where "Google Bombing" is briefly explained.

I suppose Google was getting some heat over some of these results.
