Don't get tunnel vision, you site could well be impact by the latest Panda Update, too:

Google Panda Update 20 Released, 2.4% Of English Queries Impacted

Try to be objective about your site and SEO tactics in relation to quality and Google's Webmaster Guidelines. Often, this is the hardest thing for an SEO/Webmaster to do.

Well, the main problem of this is that you have to be completely Whitehat. One spammy backlink or any duplicate content will end up in Google not considering your sites again. Keep that in mind before you take action.

    Sincerely,

I'm curious, so basically are emds now on the same level as partial matches? Or are they worse?

No, that is an over-the-top assessment. Instead, have a read of some SEO sites such as Search Engine Land about what Google updates really mean, but also an interview with Matt Cutts by Danny Sullivan (at SMX this year).

Recently Google have updated their algorithm and lots of websites get penalized by Penguin, EMD & Panda.

It's pure BS. In all the niches I checked in Google, the top results were all either Youtube videos (owned by Google), or big sites like Twitter and Pinterest. How is that giving better, more relevant search results?? If I'm searching for a product, then I want to find a site where I can get the product and not a stupid Youtube video about it.

They're becoming a crappy search engine. I like Bing better anyway...

Start using Bing and Yahoo - Google have gone one tweak too far and the only way to make them listen will be less users googling and more binging and yahooing

Just keep adding good quality content and stop abusing the EMD keyword so much in your links, content, and anchor text.

    Diversify, be natural.

    Exactly...
Stop abusing, focus on making quality content and gaining links organically. And this abuse is what Google is trying to stop.

When we search for sites, we want to find ones that are good, that we can genuinely trust, not ones that have spammed their way to the top. It Google - or any other search engine - allowed that, then they would stop being used as they would be useless.

Funnily enough, all this criticism of the quality of Google's search results, yet according to one research Bing is the most heavily poisoned:

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/10/08/bing_worst_search_poisoning/

It's interesting that this research, from a user perspective (about quality of search results vs boohoo Google lowered my rank after years of spamming), is contrary to that of webmasters getting upset because their spam techniques do not work any more.

I was looking for a solution to recover from the EMD drop. Would someone have a link to "reconsider" page from Google?
