i have a quick question about google and duplicate content

If i write an article in english and post it on my english website

then translate the same article to german and post it on my german website

will google flag this as duplicate content or both count as being unique

I don't think so. You have actually added a value to the internet by translating it.

By the way, if that was the case Wikipedia would be disppear from G.

if the article is written by yourself, you should be safe and will not penalized by search engine..

If you use one article more than one times by translating in other language then it is not good. Google has some tools that easily can check duplicate content while it would be in other language as well.

Of course not! Google won't count this article as duplicated content.

And I tell you one more funny thing. If you than translate your article from german to english you have a great chance to get one more unique article. :)

It can't be duplicate content. Just dont rely on Google Translate for the translation effort. Otherwise, anyone who translates it back to English may end up with similar article.

For me it is not a duplicate content, because the language and sentence construction in German is different from English. Therefore, translating an English content to German will be good and not will be flagged as duplicate content.

As of now, it's safe and won't be detected as duplicate. Just stay away from automatic translation and make sure it's legible and semantically correct in both languages.

Google keep track and also know about authority sites

like if i get some topic from BBC site and translate and pot on my won site don't mean that is mine

there is no benefit to put the duplicate content
