My site is only about a month old and it was suddenly dropped by Google. When I type www.mydomain.com into Google, nothing shows up. I made a few changes to my site recently, but I wouldnt think that even if I screwed up, it would be enough to remove me. The most major change was changing my headings. Before they were things like: Free Info, FAQ, Buy Now, Resources, Links, and etc. I changed everything on the site to headings such as: Free Noni Juice Info, Noni Juice FAQ, Buy Noni Juice Now, Noni Juice Resources, Noni Juice Links, and etc. I basically worked my keyword "noni juice" into all of my headings. Could this possibly be enough to get me removed from the index? Is this considered spam? The only other thing I did was exchange a few reciprocal links with a couple of directorys. The dirs had decent PR (4+) so I'm almost positive that linking to them wouldnt hurt my site. One other minor thing was that I maxed my debit card and when AdWords billed me, it was declined. Although not suspended, my account was frozen for about five days until I got the card situation straightened out. I would hope that the AdWords thing would have nothing to do with being dropped, but you never know. I've spent a ton of time and money getting my site going and it would stink if it was all for nothing. Thanks, Tony
The only other thing I did was exchange a few reciprocal links with a couple of directorys. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many directories = link farms Some of them exist just to sell data : email addresses and URL's to other companies.
Here are the directories, if this is not allowed please delete: h**p://search.performancecorporate.com/ h**p://www.lexiseek.com/ h**p://www.sootle.com/ If I did accidently link to a farm could it be enough for Google to drop me since my site is so new? Thanks, Tony
Yes, just remove their links from your code, Shawn has mentioned the ONLY directory he submits to is DMOZ and he does well in the Search Engine Results. Folks that submit to reciprocal link directories and sites are in danger.
If site is that new, it is not uncommon for site to appear and disappear in and out of index. Shannon
Thanks for helping the newbie out. I'm suddenly back on and the cached date is yesterday. When I type in the name of my site without the "www", I'm at the top again with my title and description. I was worried that I was penalized because last night my site lost its title and description. When I typed in the name of my site, it just came up h**p://www.mydomain.com with no title or description and it was the third one down instead of number one. Then today, my site was gone completely. I did remove all of the reciprocal links to web directories just in case. I know its a complete coincidence, but a few minutes after I removed those links, my site was back on. Although I doubt I was penalized by those sites, I'm going to be more careful with my linking and only trade with regular health oriented sites, not any directories. I'm sure I'm being too nervous since this is my first site, but having it completely disappear gave me quite a scare. Thanks Again, Tony
Everyone should be careful on what directories they submit to, I have been telling folks that for months, many of them are simply data mining programs that will NEVER give you any traffic period. In addition most of the links from the poor directories are worthless and are a waste of time.
Do you mean, it is a problem even if you don't link back to the directory? It will be strange that Google can punish you because other web sites link to your site.
Yeah man, Noppid is creating a new service that will do just that, everyone that is interested send him your PM's now PS: Gworld link farms can get creative and Google will identify the creative one's won't they Ask Shawn why he only submits to DMOZ, he is very successful and must have a reason
Do you understand that Google has taken down sites that are known link sellers, those are one way links OK Examples include one that Shawn mentioned last night, phpBB was taken out because of selling links, another would be SearchKing. So a link seller can be considered a link farm.
