Google dropping non-English pages

During the last update, Google attributed page rank to all pages of my website, even the newer ones, which is good. Unfortunately, it also decided to drop almost all non english language pages, which is not good, since they make up two thirds of my site. Or at least I take it that is what this means:
I hope this is my own fault, as I accidentally removed the one page from my site that had hard coded links to the other language versions. All other pages used a small javascript to switch from one language to another. I have now put that page back and have replaced the javescript with two lines of php-code to include links to the other laguage pages.

My question is: would the sudden complete absence of internal links to those pages inspire Google to drop those pages, and if so, shouldn't they start reappearing in the serps after a few days after I've put internal links back again?

Yeah I dont see why G would drop sites in other languages... that would drop out a lot of pages with the primary language as something other than English. I would think that if G could no longer find your pages they would assume they were gone and would lose the PR.

I'm not saying that Google drops these pages because they are not in English. I noticed that Googled dropped these pages and I am wondering why. Maybe because they are considered duplicate content, which it is, in essence?

Also, it is very easy for Google to verify that these pages are actually still on the server. And the funny thing is, that a lot of those pages received PR during the same update in which the appear to have been dropped. I would just like to know what's going on.

I think you are safe as far as the dup conent goes. I am only basing that off my experiences from one site. We had a version of a site in spanish and in english and nothing ever happened like this... like I said though it was only one site, it could have been missed or something. This is an interesting question...
