I've recently noticed that Google.com is showing less .co.uk websites in it's results (I call this The GEM EFFECT 2) Some UK sites that I always see in the Google.com results simply aren't there any more, whilst still remaining strong in the Google.co.uk results... Maybe it won't affect a lot of UK webmasters as they tend to only check their Google.co.uk results... and have probably started getting most of their traffic from Google.co.uk nowadays. Since the introduction of Google.co.uk as the default for UK searches it might be that Google are literally removing .co.uk websites from the SERPs altogether (or at least starting to). Just thought I'd mention it If you blog about it I'd like a link to www.justoneuk.com thanks. regards James. [I posted it over at webmaster world a minute ago, I'll keep an eye out for any reaction... if it makes it through the pre-moderation]
For some time now, Google has been doing that and I believe that it all because Google wants to show more relevant results to the user, from the same geographic location that the user is from. Effectively the principles of Geo targeting. As search engines are getting more and more local in nature, everyone should have seen it coming.
