Our site was performing reasonably well for couple of keywords on Google. But last week our position dropped drastically. We are actually kicked to the end of the search list. Only thing we done recently is registering the site link in around 100 free directories? Please help? Thanks in advance.

Check for the duplicacy of content , If content is duplicate then quickly change it...
I hope it will help you..

if your site is new one.., then registering for 100 free directories is one mistake., and as above said check for duplicacy of content.,

Also, if your site is new, you may be experiencing the infamous "Google Dance" If this is the case, you might see your site back up where it was next week, tomorrow.. who knows. Over time, if you are good with you back links, it will settle down. If your site is new, you need to build back links sloooowly at first. Also diversify the type of back links you build.

you didnt provide enough info so its hard to tell why the ranking was dropped.

    how old is your site?
how long you had a stable ranking for?
were you building links on a regular basis or there was no link building activity at all for some time and all of a sudden you submitted the site to link directories?

ranking tends to drop if there is no link building activity for a period of time. so after a period of inactivity if you start building links, there is a chance that your site will show some ranking fluctuation. only way to bring the ranking back would be to keep building backlinks.

Google ranking of a website always changes according to different algorithmic changes. Moreover Google not always tell us about these updates, you have learn about these from the experience and knowledge.

I am sure your website is performing badly for one of these Google updates, which you are unable to detect. And as far as the submitting to free directories, I don't think it has caused any difference. It has to do with something other.

    HI.
Try to update your content daily. May be this has happen because of duplicate content in your site. And if your content is unique then you must be experiencing Google dance. Wait for sometime automatically your site will be enable where it was earlier, if their is no mistake in your site.
