Found this on the web. A consumer group asked the Federal Trade Commission Friday to investigate and block Google Inc’s proposed $3.1 billion purchase of online advertising firm DoubleClick Inc unless the companies improve consumer privacy protections. The complaint, filed by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), alleges that Google and New York-based DoubleClick collect exhaustive personal information on consumers using the Internet but don’t adequately protect the privacy of that information. Google’s acquisition of privately held DoubleClick “will give one company access to more information about the Internet activities of consumers than any other company in the world,†the complaint from the Washington-based group said. “There is simply no consumer privacy issue more pressing for the Commission to consider than Google’s plan to combine the search histories and Web site visit records of Internet users.†read more here... http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2007\04\23\story_23-4-2007_pg6_2
Look at the url extension which u gave us. .pk meaning it is a domain from Pakistan. A country which still doesn't have adequate phone lines for it's consumers and lacks infrastructure. How do I know, I'm sitting here scratching my hair out after numerous complaints to the national phone company to fix our line so we can maintain our outsourcing business. The media here is quite unreliable and depends on stories on authentic networks like Reuters, AP, etc. I wouldn't trust that article, I guess try to find a better source and see what they have to say.
Oh cmon adnan, you really think dailytimes.com.pk is going to come up with such a story by themselves? That's quite ridiculous. As for finding a better source, well it took me 5 seconds to find the following: http://dwb.sacbee.com/content/business/24hour_tech_business/story/3603729p-12885280c.html http://www.redorbit.com/news/technology/909624/googledoubleclick_deal_complaint_filed/index.html http://www.pcpro.co.uk/broadband/ne...ek-to-block-googles-doubleclick-purchase.html I hope you trust co.uk.
I back this up 100%, Google is getting far to nosy tracking and keeping information that I don't want them keeping.
Well samzach, if u look at the article, It's copied from other sources. Every bit of detail, without citing the true author. Is that good? This shows that the site has no original content and just goes out and copies stuff from other publishers, and to top it off, doesn't even have the decency to give them credit. That basically is the story with most intellectual properties in Pakistan. Logos, Software, HBO, Trade Names all are copied or used without license from their copyright holder and the officials don't do anything to stop this.
Dude, do you even have a point? If you have anything to say on topic then do else stop complaining about stuff that doesn't matter! Jeezzz!
If the story is true then it will take Google no time to rectify this issue. Google is a business with a team of lawyers, there are legal ways around this. I would like to see the filed complaint, this should be public record, right?
i think, google can solve this in matter of time. as they have big lawyer and money.... so yah lets see what happnes
Zee plagiarizing content DOES matter and is a bigger violation then you think. That's why they have mla and apa citations.
dailytimes.com.pk is authoritative site. that story has nothing to do with their phone lines ? sounds like personal grudges. Coming back to topic, hope this gets sorted out in best of users.
The article is copied on the site. Word for word. Zehrila. And the site admins didn't even give credit to the real author. This is not good and all I am saying, is it is better to find a better source for the news. Like samzach did.
Oh please! Bugg off! Stop complaining. If you wana complain about any country, phonelines, outsourcing issues, softwares, logos and copywrites... go to General Chat forum and start a thread where you can complain all day long. I think you have a complaining problem! The article on that .pk site has an "ap" written at the end! I guess you don't know what that means and you can't blame any person for your lack of knowledge, perhaps a weak eye or even OCD (you know what that stands for?) Seriously, go elsewhere to vent!
Just don't use the services they offer and you'll be fine, IMO the google toolbar is the most pointless and most potentially dangerous one in terms of privacy.
