I'll guess your site is new.
Get links from pages that indexed by Google, that way sooner or later your site will get indexed.

You may want to check out your Google Sitemap for more details. When does the bots index your site?

Google doesn't show accurate link data and only updates every few months.

Try using Yahoo instead, I use them on my blog link tracker and they update every few hours.

Type link:http://www.website.com into Yahoo to get the data.

Is it that Google is slow, or that maybe if they links are unrelated then Google simply doesn't count them??

google does not shows the real time date. it updates the backlinks before pr update. you have to wait

Google for some reason never does show the right amount of backlinks even if they are relevat links from top quality sites.

I always found MSN was best for this but now their query feature is down it makes thing a little harder and Yahoo is the best option for checking backlinks even though they too have never showed anywhere near the correct number of back links.

There may be few reasons :

    * For how long you have those 1000 backlinks. cause google may take time till 3 to 4 months to update the site's link databse .

    * How many of those links are cached by google . If cached then are they cached within last 30 days. Check twice whether google does caches those pages frequently or once a long period .

    * Are those links from good pr pages .

    * Are they from different sites or your just taken some sitewide links.

There are few more facts as well .

Looking forward to other members replies .

    Regards to you all

It does not make sense to look at Google in relation to the information about links. Google does not give information about links.
