It shocking what occurred in Haiti. But $1M from big G is nothing. I don't think it's worth to post such stories.

That's great! I think I read somewhere that they earn something like $100 a second or something like that so they can afford it. haha

In the corporate world where profit margins are tight and on the back of a recession to write off $1mil is tough for any organisation to do. They didn't have to give the money and im pretty sure Haiti hasn't generated $1 mil for google in revenue. Media stunt or not this is a great gesture of good will and agreeing with the 2nd reply i just hope every cent of it gets to the people and not into someone else's wallet.

I love google and really respect their thoughts..

@Those People who are saying that 1m is nothing, Have you donated even $1?

and apart from that, They added a help message at their main site..Which will surely generate more then $10M

The U.S. Government pledged 100 million to the Haiti relief fund.. Google pledged 1 million. That means a private organization is donating 1/100th of what the government is.

Google did not have to donate anything and they did... Google also donates to many other organizations.. It is selfish to say that Google should have donated more... In fact, I bet that many of the people who have bashed them donated under $100 (if any at all) when the truth is you could have given more ;) ...

Let us be gracious for what they did do..... SMILES :)

I believe that Google did a good thing by donating $1 million. That is a good amount of money, and I am sure it will help in some way. The link on the Google homepage to help the relief effort will also generate a good amount of money.
