Is there any advantage to buying a domain through google (aside from price) as opposed to anyone else? I guess you're technically buying it through godaddy, but it's a slightly different product offering. Is there any DISadvantage to buying a google domain?
No they are exactly the same thing. Do, however stick to popular registrars like GoDaddy or name.com. If you use GoDaddy and a coupon code it'll only cost you $6.99 Cheers
Domain names are domain names and ICCAN control everything arround that. And all domains have the same value for SE etc and google is not allowed to give bonuses for the domains registered trough them
Server point is right that domain name are controlled by ICCAN and all the domain have same value but from me most of the website including godaddy does sale the domain name at different different prices. Like if you see at godaddy it's offering .info domain at only 1.99 USD but if you will choose to book this domain from another website they will charge you aprox. 8 USD. So it's depend on the service provider. And if the google providing the domain registered facility then it's must be good because it's reliable from every and google always thought from user point of view. so.... Go ahead dude

I was curious if there might be other hidden benefits (ie, immediate indexing of your site, etc)
