Does anyone have any experience with the word 'IT', as in 'IT consultant'?

Google thinks the word 'IT' is actually 'it', and therefore ignores it in its searches.

Which means that anyne searching for an IT consultant or an IT course - or anone wanting to offer that - won't succeed.

I guess we could use 'computer consultant', but that ignores the needs of someone who types in the word 'IT...'.

    Any thoughts?

I think what you are referring to are stop words. These words are believed to be ignored by search engines.

You eventually will rank for a stop word. The thing is that Google seems to ignore these until you actually have a good number of backlinks pointing to the site. Your anchor text will help you rank for these terms regardless if they are stop words or not.

I have a site where it's primary keyword includes "get." It's in the domain as well, and was difficult to rank for compared to other keywords.

    Good luck

Interesting. Never thought about this. Google ignores it, but not the IT (Information technology). Google gives me first position in bald "Information technology".

Could you not write it as I.T or would that not be the same, or have any effect?
