Google doesn't know about their own pages

I went to the Webmaster Control panel and saw that you could check there to see if your site is in Googles index (like you can when you have a sitemap account, so I typed in one of the sites that disappeared yesterday and it says it is in their index.
So then, just for fun, I typed in their example (google.com) and this is what I got:
http://www.google.com/ Pages from your site are included in Google's index. [?]
Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Dec 23, 2006.
    Potential indexing problems:

We do not know about all the pages of your site. You can submit a Sitemap to tell us more about your site.

No problem being accessed frequently if you are Google, but they don't know about all their pages? Maybe we should be nice and submit a sitemap for Google?

If you count the search results, google's a pretty huge site. Besides, they don't want to index search indexed pages.
