I have read that directories are now obsolete. Try posting in real website through link exchanges.

Actually getting BL from directory is very difficult. Google not indexing all the pages of any site. only little pages. So the link u added in directory goes to some internel pages that google not found or indexed.

Directory links are crap, so they usually don't show up unless they are DMOZ.

Directory links still seem to work
I hope when they do stop crediting these links it will not be done retrospectively

Have you tried Yahoo? They seem to list more backlinks. I've never trusted the Google backlink checker because Yahoo always shows more links for my sites. Yahoo will give you a truer reflection of the links you have coming in. Whether Google gives them all value, well, that's another story! Who knows? :)

Most of my sites are stilling showing back links from high PR, reputable directories like Joe Ant and DMOZ. The lesser quality directory sites that haven't been around all that long look to be ignored by Google. In terms of back links counted by Google, I've never really had any real success submitting to hundreds of directories. Just my .02 cents worth.

It`s a bit harder to get listed in DMOZ. Sites usually need to be 3 - 6 months old. Most of the directories are useless in means of traffic, but they do show up in google`s webmaster tools. :)
