I posted this question in the Google forum, but did not get an answer, so I was wondering if that was the wrong place to post in. So first, I would like to apologize in advance, if this post seems too obvious to some. I've been told that Google.com may display different results for the same keywords entered, if it notices that the requests comes from different IPs which are located in different countries. I currently live in Israel and therefore access Google.com from Israel. When searching for a keyword, I get a certain set of results. Friends of mine that live in the US, on the other hand, get a differect set of resutls (or a different order) when they search the same keywords. I would like to know if there is a way to work around this problem. Is there a way for me to get the same results as if I were querying from the US?
Yes, but you need to manually add an arguement. You need to add "&gl=us" to the end of your query string. For example, if you want to search for "software development" your url would look like this: http://www.google.com/search?q=soft...mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&gl=us Hope that helps.
... And do mind, that the result can change from datacenter to datacenter. You can get different results on a PC just across the street deppending on wich Google datacenter you get the results from. Example: http://google-dance.miniunternehmen.de/ But of cause the geo-center is the most impotant as NoamBarz descriped. Thats the hole point of local google searches.
