Google Displaying ads of Man Boobs - How to avoid that

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by notricks, Apr 9, 2010.

I have seen a website of my friend where google adsense was displaying ads for "How to Get Rid of Man Boobs".

Um well, Kinda dunno what to say, but the pics in those ads are very near to - woman boobs. Kinda disgusting to see it on a sports website or a personal blog.

    How can I block them?
One way is to mark that url in Adsense but then there is a whole lot of ads in many such categories. He may not be able to block all such ads.

He could try using the Category Filter to exclude "Weight Loss" and "Drugs and Supplements" (depending on what the ad was for).

It could also due to the certain keyword or content on your site which triggered the ad. Make sure you specify your site keyword in keyword metatag.

If your website is about weight loss or health related site, then its good for you. Don't get confuse! Saying "How to Get Rid of man Boobs" is like saying "How to cut down your FAT or Losing Weight". Most Americans are fat, if they see your Man Boob's ads, they will likely to click it. ;) Also, weight loss ads usually have high click value.

If you have no issue then use only text ads in-place of text and image ads.

Does the image of man-boobs offend you that much? If you have sports related website that kind of ad could really help you out. It's very possible that guys suffering from man-boobs might be surfing through your site and might actually be please to see images that reflect their condition... and they might just deliver that all important click.

Don't worry about it too much.

But if you're really put off by it just turn on your filters in your AdSense control panel.

The more weird it is the more likely people will click it and notice the ad more.

If it's an ongoing thing then it'll be because of your... or his... content.

You can use section targeting. That might help you out

From all these Replies it seems like Its good to have them. So I will ask him to rather keep it that way. Its just that when I open his website in my office, it becomes NSFW. :)
    Thanks for the replies.

If it has the web address at the bottom of the ad, write it down.

Then log into your adsense panel:

    1) choose competitive Ad filter
    2) add the web address you wrote down in the adsense for content tab
    3) the ads will be gone in 10 mins

I have about 10 url addresses I know will have a low ctr, so I get rid of them because the ads aren't related to my content.

Has your buddy, or you, opted out of Googles DART cookie and targeted ads ?

If not, those man boob ads are showing up because of things you've searched for and looked at.

Right click on the ad, select properties, you should be able to see the URL of the site that the ad is directing to.

Then competitive ad it away from adsense dashboard.
