You have probably received a penalty for excessive link exchanges.

Here is a link to the official google webmaster guidelines that discusses backlinks - http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356

A few link exchanges are ok, but if you start doing too many, expect to pay a price.

    Yes Kev,

That must be the issue, Thank you! I did trade them very fast before the update, then 3 weeks later it vanished, but I'm going to quote FreeListTool.

My PR vanished and stayed that way for 2 updates, I finally moved the links to a links page the other day...
Do you think next update I will have a PR?

By the way, my rankings are better than ever, so no penalty for SERPS.

I think you and FreeListTool are both right, thank you for that great answer. Spot on! ;)

    No,
Never seen that, They might recommend less links but it surely can't affect PR.

Only option it will affect the PR is link-exchanges

Metros, I'm not sure who you are talking to so I don't know what you mean but...

    Link schemes:
    http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356

It's manipulation to the SERPS, especially when trading too many very fast.

    Thanks again Kev.

Omg, that is what happened to me too. When does it stop? I recently removed all mine onto a links page, was urs a links page or homepage?

When will our PR's come back?

    Whats your website?

Anything and everything in excess is bad and your excessive link exchanges seem to be the culprit here.

Always undertake efforts that appear normal and do not go overboard in trying to get quick results. It often ends with a bad experience! :(

Personally, what I would do, is add the nofollow tag to your outgoing links that you did an exchange with. That will prevent passing page rank to the sites you linked to.

Stop any and all future link exchanges.

Focus on only one way inbound links.

And, I suggest you read through the google webmaster guidelines. Then, go find the blog of Matt Cutts - who is one of the main people in googles web spam division. Read Matts blog very carefully. After you read through Matts blog, go back to google webmaster guidelines and read them again.

"SERPS Very Good" is a bit vague. It really depends on your competition for your keywords. Like the old saying goes, "Let a sleeping dog lie". But, if a competitor creeps up on you and takes over, these are the things you have to consider. We all know how long it takes to see results (good or bad) from a new strategy.
I compare it to a boxing match, only when you hit your opponent you have to wait a few weeks to see if they'll fall. If they don't, you have to whack them again and wait another few weeks.

If Google think that you are doing reciprocal link exchange, they can disable you PR. If you are doing link exchange you have to do it at minimum and with related site only.

PR IS BACK!!! It's only a 2 but I do have a lot of pages to suck up the flow. Anyway all I had to do was remove all the links that I traded so fast.
Sure did take a LOOONNGGGG time though but better late than never! ;)

Thanks for all your help, ~kev~, freelistfool, and everyone else!
