Google Directory Update

So the Google directory has not taken a fresh dump from DMOZ in almost a year.....

What is everyones thoughts on this?

Has DMOZ become so corrupt and/or built such a bad rep that Google doesn't want their updated data?

Is Google quietly building their own update for the directory?

Google hasn't paid very much attention to DMOZ in a long time. And now they have the Google Coop. I think that pretty much says it all, don't you?

As for DMOZ, "taking a dump" is a good way to describe it...

Well I never really cared to look but I just checked it out.

I checked my last site that got added to DMOZ (about 2 months ago) by doing a search in the Google Directory.

The results came up with my site and has the proper category path. But that category doesnt exsist in the directory if I click on it.

So what that means to me is Google is still using DMOZ data and putting it into the directory but the directory itself isnt updating.

    Im really confused now.

    What's google coop...

As far as DMOZ, it can be very good for quality, but from what I've read from other editors, they are not as keen to add a site when they have good coverage in an area....

Thus IMO, reducing, inadvertently, the value of DMOZ as a search resource

    Welcome to da club.

Good to hear that Google is not paying attention to DMOZ anymore...that directory is ass. They may have been good at one point in time, but ever since like 2000 they've been corrupt.

They need to get shut down, IMO.

haha. fine sarcasm as usual :p

minstrel, if any of my directories ever become a halfway decent success, I want you to be an editor for it. :)

:) If you make sure you don't allow adult and other exploitive sites, MFA sites, or cheap pharmaceutical sites, I might consider it.
