I think DMOZ is Google's directory.
I had submitted my website in DMOZ 8 months ago but still my website is not present in their directory.
Can anybody give me the reason or tell me what to do.??

It took about one and a half year for my site to get listed.
They get thousands of submissions request everyday, so, you have to be patient.

DMOZ directory listings must be reviewed by the category editors, and it takes a long time to get listed their..
However Google Directory uses the same data submitted to DMOZ ;)

Yeah, it just takes a long time to get listed if you get listed at all. The editors should contact you if you are rejected, or maybe they won't. You just have to be patient.

Dmoz takes time around 6 month to 1 year for approval. Your website should have quality for approval. So just submit in dmoz and forget. Donot try to submit again and again.

It took me 3 years to get listed, I finally got listed last week because I spoke to the page editor and they looked into it found my request and confirmed it was ok. (I posted my request once every 6 months).

From all more than 50 websites, which I own I have listed only 1 website. DMOZ is very high rated directory, but unfortunately the requirements, which they put in front of the websites are very high

Dmoz doesnt belong to Google. But of course there is some partnership with Mozilla. DMoz is Directory Mozilla, the most important web directory. Patience is a virtue with this directory actually. If you need faster indexing, you may wish to get in touch with any Dmoz editors.

If you goto Google's directory and submit your site, they send you to DMOZ's submit a site.

I have waited for 1.5 years now but I see none of my sites being listed in the directory. I no longer have any hope of getting my sites in the directory. I think it is better to pay yahoo the $300, at least we will know whether the site is accepted or not within 7 days :(

Or you could just add $300 to Adwords and get some quality traffic to your site. I know which I would choose!

DMOZ is not a google directory. DMOZ was owned by Netscape Communications. Netscape was bought out by AOL. AOL is owned by Time Warner. Despite this, it still seems somewhat low budget in both maintenance and appearance.
