    I haven't seen or heard mention about this article about Google Devaluing Web Directories mentioned anywhere.

    It's just a brief article that claims directories are too artificial and that search engines will be giving them less and less wait (possibly).

    Yes it is definitely similar. However this one is supposed to originate from an expert source. I stress "supposed expert".
