I may have just not noticed this for a long time, but today I was searching google and noticed in the top right hand corner:

Results 1 - 10 of about 115,000,000 for stuff [definition].

The [definition] is clickable and routes you to www.answers.com.

    Is this new?

They've had it for a while, but pretty recently they switched from using dictionary.com to answers.com, so it seems to be showing up for a lot more things.

I'm guessing they made the change to counter MSN using their encyclopedia with their new search. The "definitions" on Google are often just information on a topic. Try the "definition" for "The Beatles" and other topics like that.

    It's very convenient.

A week? That's been there for nearly as long as I can remember. I use it all the time. Have at least used it for a year now if I remember correctly.

Use 'define+KW' to get definitions in the SERPs. Use any odd search and just click the underlined words top right to get the Answers definition.

If you use 'define+KW' you get a selection of definitions taken from different URLs.

They are talking about the clickable option that appears on the top right corner of the search results when you run an ordinary search for a term.

If you click on it, it takes you to the results page of answers.com, which is completely different than using the 'define:KW' option.

And yes... they used to serve dictionary.com results. Which surprises me, mostly because dictionary.com serves AdSense ads, and answers.com serves ads from a competitor, not sure which, but definitely not AdSense.

Doesn’t seem like a wise move, to send customers to another advertising company.

Answers.com is superb. Previously I rarely used the definition links when they redirected to Dictionary.com but now I use them quite frequently.

I also found this to be a quite nice addition to the Google SERPs.
