hello, I'm trying to figure out why one of my directories got de-indexed. the site is www.cw12.com We went through ad deleted all not found links and deleted any articles that were found to be replicas via copyscape. any ideas? Thanks!
bleh I looked through, It didnt occur to me the submissions on this particular directory are automated, whereas my other dirs are hand edited. the links are all garbage duplicate content. Nevermind, so I guess for future reference when someone searches : 1. check to assure links descriptions are NOT duplicate 2. check to assure articles are not duplicate 3. check to assure you arent linking to other de-indexed sites.
Have you been spamming for backlinks? You on page SEO is also very bad as you are using keywords that don’t appear on your homepage. If you care about the directory give it a good clean up and ask Google to include it in the search results, if you have been spamming for backlinks you may as well forget it as Google wont list it again. Thanks Brian
Your footer. I would almost bet my life on it. So Talk Nascar developed your template? Who is Your Website Here? They are pretty popular now-a-days. Google HATES PAID FOOTER LINKS PERIOD... Just nuke them all.
My directory is delisted from the search result as well. I tried in so many different ways but it not going back to the original state.
What would they index? No category descriptions and no links in most categories. The links that are there are crap. A quick look in Art History showed furniture sites, software download sites, architecture sites. Why would you believe that Google would think that your directory is useful.
Why do you say that? What is your experience? My directories are basically 100% indexed so which directories in particular are you speaking about?
And with a commonly-used template used by other spam sites, that hardly makes the directory credible.
The established members here im sure will have seen this coming, i wonder how many more will come telling of delistings and google not liking their directory any more. Put junk in and you get junk out and now google is getting better at getting rid of that kind of stuff.
The ladies over at Google are not complete idiots.. They know for the most part what is crap and what is not. They still get fooled from time to time though.
Really not an easy task to tell this. Suggestions from people here might be one of the reasons. But no one can bet any thing on this issue. My take - Possible reasons could be: - Using a category structure that hundreds or thousands of websites use. - May be footer links. - Your listings titles - All of them have keyword rich texts - Google hate them. - Search your description of any links - Most of them are garbage (Sorry to cut it right). Your descriptions are not unique and are being used in many many directories. I think its best for everyone to stick to basics of content - Create a unique taxonomy of categories, add links with business name or combination of business name - keyword and for God's sake have unique description for your listings. Internet thrives by content - Why in the world Google should even index your directory if all you have is nothing but duplicate contents?
Wondering what Google thinks about these directories? Generally Google doesn’t have a fascination for paid directories, but directories with human editors are a different story altogether.
no, some of my directories have been de-indexed, but most have not. difference is I think these are on auto pilot, and I recently made a scrubber to pull duplicate links outs ... some of the results have 35000 other duplicate directory subs. so I think obviously its the fact that google doesnt like duplicate content. also going to remove footers as stated above... I think hes right. i dont put footers in any of my other sites (directories or not),
I'll concur with your first statement that the directory is full of junk/spammy content. I did a quick search on India as a keyword and the results agreed with your statement. Google is becoming much smarter at detecting spam and avoiding it. My suggestion would be to stop buying tonnes of directories and concentrate on a number that you can actually manage through hand editing. Ditch the de-indexed ones, they aren't worth anything now.
