Google De-Indexed a Page of mine

    Hi,

what can the reason be for Google all of a suddenly de-indexing a certain page of yours?

I had a keyword, that was rank top 5,...gave me 115 visits during month of March...but now on April 1st, its all of a sudden gone because a certain page off my site was de-indexed.

When I go "site:mydomain.com", it doesn't even list that certain page anymore.

What can the reason be for this?

    [edited]
I also want to add that just about 2 weeks ago or so, when I would type "site:mydomain.com" , there was 1600 pages indexed...now only 745.

    What gives?

Sounds like google feels your site isn't very high quality. Any chance you have the same stuff online as a ton of other people do?

I don't think quality of any site has anything to do with Google going heywire.

My PR5-6 pages disapear from Google's index routinely. Interestingly enough the pages that disappear from Google's index are the internal pages (not the homepage) that are directly linked from at least one high-PR EDU, GOV or MIL site.

    Go figure.

The highligt of this idiocy being our internal page linked by 2 PR6 EDU sites, 1 PR5 EDU and 1 PR6 GOV. This internal page is curently (and for the last 2 months) listed in Google's own WebMaster tools as the "Page with the highest PageRank". Now, here is Google's justice - IT IS NOT EVEN IN THE INDEX AND HAS NO CACHE PAGE.

    Expain that Google!

Only two other sites are like the page that was de-indexed. This particular page of mine offered data that is only produced through my members participating at my site. Meaning, even though the other 2 pages show similar data, everyday it'll always be different and unique.

NewBoy, you say some of your pages dissappear routinely, do you think this is the case for me?

When I log-in to webmaster tools, the two pages that got de-indexed recently are still on my sitemap.

I don't know about you, man. I know that Google deletes pages from the index for some reason.

I would sort of agree with Google when duplicate pages or pages that have little-to-none content are deleted from the index, but what happens is Google deletes pages from the index that are perfectly valid, have no duplicates (and I know my site - I built it), have high PR (in my case PR5), have direct, SEO-friendly links from highly-relevant EDU, GOV and MIL pages and are root pages for my site's subpages. When such pages get deleted from the index - it pisses me off.

This strange behavior started to occur around December 2006 - January 2007 and I never encountered it before and I build sites since 1997 and SEO them from A-to-Z myself since 2003.

I know of at least one other site (not mine) that lost a PR6 HOMEPAGE with the rest of the pages being soundly in the Google's Index and SERPs.

Is there anything you were able to do? Anything that person with the PR6 homepage was able to do?

Is there anyway you can e-mail G and receive a valid reason?

No, we could not figure out (even theoretically) WHAT TO DO, as this does not qualify as a sane behavior by any stretch of imagination.

No. The Homepage is out of the index for over 2 weeks now.

There is nowhere to e-mail anymore. Google Search does not have a search-specific Question form :) They took it down or moved it and I can't find it. We are just too annoying to them :).

Update: Some of my pages in question (like the one cited above) are back after being missing for over month and a half!

I hope your missing pages will also come back.

Hey, this is to update this thread.

The two main deindexed page of mine has return, and the keywords for thoes pages, I rank top 10 once again. Feels so good to see it back on there...not sure, but if it happens again , then this may be the same thing that occured with your site as well.

    Cheers

i hav been experiencing the same thing with one of my site. All the pages which were ranking under 10 in Google, hav been deindexed. Is this an effect of keyword stuffing. As the keyword density on those pages is a little on the higher side.
