Has anyone seen any shifts in their rankings among the various data centers? Any indications that change is afoot? This morning I saw a keyword for one account drop three pages for a brief period then recover two pages for a net loss of -1 page or about ten spots. A second keyword is hovering between #10 and #11 depending on the data center.
Yes, The datacenters have been displaying different ranks in the last 3 days. Definitely an update going on..too early to tell if it will stick and whether it is just a natural change or consequence of an algo modification...
Absolutely. The change became much more consistent today with the referral traffic coming from Google.
I saw it too...I was ranked 5-6 until today, now I'm on page 2. Ugh. Mine's a pretty new domain (< 1 month old)...were your SERP drops on new domains as well?
50-100 place swings between Friday, yesterday and today. Down today unfortunately. Like a fecking yo-yo
Hmmmmm … there are always ranking movements. It does not necessarily denote a DP (data push). I haven’t seen any major across the board movement (personal and clients websites and terms) so I figure yer seeing a ‘blip’ more than a full out DP Of course I gave up on DC watching a while back as other tasks are far more fruitful. :0) New domains tend to jump around a fair bit. I would hang in there and expect some drop unless you’re building content and back links like a fiend…or the targeted terms aren’t that competitive For me the recent ‘weather forecast’ has me thinking we’ll see no major DPs/Algo/infrastructure updates til…. Gee I dunno… Dec 26th? Lol
SERPs for my most important keyphrase are typically very stable. The top five positions almost never change. As of yesterday, the site which has been #1 for probably 5 years is not in the top 100 (I stopped checking there). /tom/
You are correct, there are always ranking changes. As of late these changes have been taking place from the 20th-30th of each month. This one seems to be right on target. Don't know if I'd consider it a "blip" though... In my case, it merely changed back one site's (really old site) placement in the Google rankings, back towards the top. It had lost that placement last month. True. I also gave up DC watching, until last month when I suddenly saw the unexplained drop in referrals. Hopefully, I can get back to adding new and unique content this month...
We believe that if you follow movements closely ie maybe 1 times per week or more, then what is happening is consistent with normal variations that occur frequently as the G algos interact with the spider information that is gathered continuously as the G spiders gather data
I've seen some changes a few weeks ago, but everything has stayed the same for a while now. I guess google is always updating something
My site has for the last 3 years been #1 on 5 major search phrases. Suddenly yesterday the site was down on ALL 5 search phrases to a 5th place? We have not made any changes and have been following all rules and running a healthy linking campaing. This downgrade is a very rare case so I am certain that some google change is taking place. Anyone with the same story or is it really my site that has been beaten?
Just thought of starting a seperate thread for this., our site came (jumped) to the second position from october 21st and also i see unrelated authority sites rank well for highly competitve keyword from october 21st
I had one of my sites hit pretty hard on June 27th. It came back with a vengence starting on October 20th. Referrals are now up more than 250% relative to the rest of October. Referrals are up from June 27th as well. Thanks to Google for the early Christmas present. Hopefully, they won't play Grinch and take it all back.
