It refers to the fluctuation in rankings. It happens a lot for new sites, older sites tend not to google dance as much.
Google is constantly updating their algo so it causes shifts in the serps. People refer to the movement in the serps as the google dance.
It does happen a lot, especially with newer sites. Sometimes the fluctuations are small and sometimes the site can completely disappear off of Google only to come back later.
Google Dance is the period of time which Google normally takes to rebuild its rankings. And because of this, its results fluctuate for 2-5 days.
When Google updates its SERP rankings, then at that time rankings for some sites fluctuates at different data centers of the Google, and it's known as Google Dance.

Google Dancing is a common problem faced by almost all webmasters when they build backlinks. When you build Links, there is some adjustments that takes place in the ranking. Temporarily, you may see your pages moved from ranking. But wait, because you may get back to the ranking with good placement. Google Dancing is welcome afterall..
my website is recently come after Google dance but it's take too much time around 1 month to back my keyword result. it's mostly come when google update it's SERP.
Google dancing is mainly faced by newly launched sites. Its just a way for Google to analyze your site in initial basis and then Google gives away appropriate ranking to it..
google dance is generally effective on new sites. your site gets up and down ranking on google and then come back to normal.

I feel, Google dance occur on new sites because there are new updates, sometimes increasing and decreasing and similarly the web traffic on these sites is variable in the start. Thus, when the search engine crawlers reads them, it changes the position of these sites more swiftly.
