For some reason. One of my strong terms for which I've had good placement #2 (under wikipedia) on Google......all the sudden is gone.

It still shows on all 3 of the Google Dance (www, www2, www3) - but for some reason on the live site for me - it is gone.

All my other listings are still there - every other one.

    Any thoughts?

What tools are you using where you see these changes?

I've found that a better tool is Mcdar's google datacenter checker:
    http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php

It lets you check by c class or specific IP and seems to be more varied than the www,www2,www3 of the tools listed above.

As for your case, I'd wait a couple of days. The same thing happened to us with a keyword we were number one for; disappeared entirely from the index (as in not even in the top 1000). 5 days later we were back in number 1. Generally if you disappear and can't find yourself anywhere it's either an algo shift or you've done something wrong. Usually you know if you've done something wrong, either from past knowledge or via webmaster console.

    Yea,

That tool looks much more thorough.....and good news for me.....it seems my placement is back (whew)!

It's funny, you really don't know what you got till you lose it - lol.

    Thanks for all your help.

I think Google has been dancing for quite a while.

    Some of my observations include:

A few weeks ago I ranked #6 for a keyword term, only to be reduced to the 3rd page the next day. As of right now I'm at the top of the 2nd page for that keyword. Also I noted for that keyword the amount of results found dropped by millions every day, though now it's back to around where it was originally.

For another, I barely ranked at all not too long ago, then found myself eventually at the #1 position. Now I'm somewhere in the 3rd page.
