I was reading an article available in the HomePage at DigitalPoint.com and saw an interesting article by RustyBrick. The tittle is "Google Penguin After-Dance Going On Now?". The article told us if there is discussion in WebMasterWorld about 'another Google Dance' in October 15. After reading the article I began checking my sites statistics and surprised with the results. Few of my sites suddenly got huge traffic increase (about six times). I got this data from my publisher dashboard. I didn't like to install any tracker or stats counter. I prefer to use the data from my notable ads company. I look at the Webmaster Tools and the data from my ads company seems correct. Look at the picture below: It seems the traffic start increase at October 14-15. While other people said it is 'another Google Dance', I would say it is just 'Another Google Algorithm'. If it is Google dance, the keyword would be 'rise' and 'down'. The traffic seems stable and keep increasing. Please understand the data from Google WebMaster Tools is not up to date as there is delay in reporting. This is why I prefer to use stats from my ads company to monitor my sites. Few of my sites which get huge traffic in earlier update remain stable (slight traffic increase in two sites and slight drop in one site). For all member, It is best to check your Webmaster Tools and see the stats. I hope all of you got huge organic traffic from Google. Arick.
I see huge traffic for both 'Desktop' and 'Mobile'. Here is the image taken from WebMaster Tools: Here is traffic from Mobile: And another stats for 'Web/Desktop': All the stats above are not up to date due to delay in WebMaster Tools.
Interesting. Your huge increase is for a local (to your country) site. Is the topic just local or the language too?
It is designed for local teacher and student but uses international language (basic English - using my limited skills). I get positive response from my ads company. Don't worry about it, just focus on blogging and everything would be fine.
Think about what is different about your sites and (hopefully) you will find the answer. I can't really say I noticed much of a difference (just less referrals to one site, but no change with regards to SE traffic). Hopefully more people have an increase like you.
That is what I do at the moment. It would take lots of time but surely this will be an interesting activity for me.
Did you add any new content at that time? Or built any backlink? Maybe someone authoritative gave you a link at that time. Or maybe they saw a bug in their Penguin from October 4th so added a "patch" now.
New Content? I didn't think I add new content for the site. It just an old site which rarely being updated. About Backlink, I am a stubborn webmaster whom thinking it is better to write article rather than spend the whole day build backlink. Your comment give me new idea. I would try to get backlink to 'my another sites' and see the result. I didn't see any new links in my WebMaster Tools. There are few government and educational sites which pointed my site as references for local teacher and student. But the links are already there for almost two years. This is the closest possible answer for my case. I am still doing an extensive research.
I didn't see any traffic changes; it just looks like you are getting a high rank for some keywords after the Oct 4th update. All updates will take a while to complete. Edit: what is your GA says?, which post/page getting increased traffic?
In my point of view Google Analytics provides more accurate statistic as compare to WBT so you must check your analytics account for more analysis of data.
I had a bit of a dip on one of my sites yesterday, hopefully just a one off, can't see any change in my search positions.
I am agree with you. Surely there would be more detailed report by using Google Analytic but I already said using analytic/statistic is not my first priority. I prefer using Ads Company for analytic rather than other metric. I believe Ads company is 'more sensitive' in giving report. I always believe less java script is better as it will reduce the time to load a site/page and higher respect for the visitor (not always correct - depend on the situation). Both statistic from ads company and native stats from hosting are more than enough for me. I do always recommend anyone to use Google Analytic if they need more detailed stats. No need to worry about it. slight drop in traffic is not big deal.
If it just slight drop, you don't need to worry about that. I do recommend you to use Webmaster tools to monitor your site. In my opinion, Webmaster tools has all the answer for basic and common questions.
