Google dance is a normal thing?

Hey guys..

Currently I'm having a couple of sites indexed and ranked in Google, but I have found out that the rankings are dancing a lot in the top 10 of the keywords I'm targeting. For example for my sites www.schildersbedrijf-zwolle.nl I ranked #6 a few hours ago, but now when doing a search I'm in #7. The same thing for my other site www.makelaarinzwolle.nl. Same story rankings dancing between the #1 and #5 spot.

Is this is a normal thing?

Well after researching a couple of hours I think I've found the magic answer. The keywords I'm targeting were ranking pretty well right after the site has been indexed in G. I think it's because I've started a SB campaign the day before and G was counting the backlinks. So the rankings were pretty well.

Now 2 days later I've noticed the ranking are dropping more and more.. gladly I've been tracking the serps rankings at every keyword phrase twice a day and now 2 days later I can see it's decreasing and decreasing more and more. So the thing I've discovered is that the backlinks is a very important thing. Again, in the beginning when my site has been indexed 2 days ago I've had a SB campaign running, so there were just a couple of backlinks and now the backlinks are gone/disappeared/or not counted by G the ranking is going down.

Is my conclusion right, Seo pros?

 

I ranked in the top 10 for about 3 weeks for the key phrase "poker is rigged". Now I rank #1 and it's held there. Normal to dance all over the place.

 

Yes, i've read something about the "google dance" but perhaps there are more explanation with my issue since the site has been indexed 2 days ago, the rankings were fine, a lot of them in the top 10 at position #2 - #6 and I've noticed it has been slowly decreasing more and more since it has been indexed well. So there got to be an explanation. And logical thinking is that I have been doing a social bookmarking campaign 2 days ago so google was recognizing the backlinks, but now the backlinks are gone/not indexed google has been decreasing my rankings.

I can show the rankings stats of the last 2 days. I have been tracking my serps rankings every day for every keyword. I save them in excel so I can make a nice graph of it and show it here if I need to..

 

Sometimes I jump to rank 160 and this scares shit out of me. Then I go back to normal spot.

 

That sucks mate, but what was the reason for this fluctuating, and what was your "normal spot"?

 

If the majority of your incoming links are coming from social media marketing (including bookmarking), then start focusing on getting quality links instead.

 

Well, even though I don't have any incoming links except from social media marketing (social bookmarking).. And yes, I will start getting quality links. But I was just wondering why it's dancing so much. Currently it's pretty stable again and the rankings are back like 2 days ago, very weird

 

Do you consider blog posts a form of "social media marketing" too? I understand why one might see google dance when most backlinks are from social bookmarking sites. But same should be true for blogpost backlinks (not comment backlinks) because the posts and links transition from homepage to individual page.

 

If it's commenting on a blog post, yes. If your site or blog is being REVIEWED by a blogger, then no.

 

It's fine, just get more backlinks.

 

woow.. another site of mine www.trouwpakzwolle.nl has just been indexed after I've done Social bookmarking and yesterday it ranked for specific keywords between #10 and #15 in G, but now the SB has been done it ranked between #2 and #5. Note: the SB backlinks are the only backlinks I have currently, no other backlinks yet. I'm a noob with SEO and now I see the power of backlinks though.

So now I've seen the power of backlinks I'm wondering what will happen when the backlinks of the SB will disappear like before with my other site. I guess it will drop again in ranking, right? And yes, I know I should build solid quality links and I will..

 

its always up and down, just keep on going with the tested and true

 

cmiiw, google has numbers of server.
but don't know your current position is an average or just position on particular server.
mine too. my site dances everytime, sometimes at 4 on hour late was 8.
then i think yours is normal :d

 

Well, got an update again. approx. 10 hours ago I was very happy to see that the serps rankings for a couple of keywords were stable again since they were back between position #2 and #5, but now after waking up checking the rankings again I'm surprised to see the rankings has been dropped AGAIN between position #12 and #16.

I'm getting a freakin' conehead of this though

 

Yes it's normal and some time google doing this it can happen b'coz when google update there all data center then other SERPS is also moving little bit but when he done then all the ranking are on there position

 

been experiencing it and the best thing you have to do is concentrate on gathering backlinks and quality one way links.
