In my 6 years of watching Google as an SEO I have never seen serps changes so dynamic. It seems like the Google Dance has returned on steroids. It appears as though the weight of new links are factored a lot faster than before. Especially for already established sites. I have a site which ranks in the top 10 for a very competitive finance related keyword and my rankings are changing hourly like a continual Google Dance. It's been like this for about 4 weeks. What is up with Google?
i'm puzzled myself as well. one of my site is climbing up steadily and is on number 6 currently for my desired term and another site i'm focusing on (4 year old site but have been putting focus on for the past 2-3 months) is changing as much as 20-30 position each day (up and down)
I really don't see it becoming permanent. It just doesn't make sense for rankings to fluctuate that much. That is why I believe it's a prolong Google Dance.
my flactuation could be due to not paying attention to the site for few years and all of a sudden paying focus on it and creating backlinks. i dropped another 17 position today. but i think it will sattle down at one point and will start climbing back up
I felt the same, our website was so long time was on the first position of Google for last 3 or more than that years, But suddenly i found it's lost 1 Ranks. Keyword is ".net development india" We were on top and feeling lucky for these years, but now it's on 2 pos. http://www.cygnet-infotech.com uff, i need to edit the post as i show in other data center's its on the top in only one data center it's on 2nd position which is at my location, still i am feeling lucky. But in past we were on top for this keyword in every data centers, I found our same website on the keyword "software development" on the 46th position and now it's on 178th position. Yes, agree there is some thing changes are happening. Well hope for the best...
