I was on Google this morning checking the ranking of one of my articles I posted at ezinearticles a few weeks ago. I'm usually in the 4th or 5th spot for that term, but today I noticed my article wasn't there.

Then I noticed this (see image)

It seems your search results are displayed based on your recent search activity.

Might this hurt many peoples marketing efforts? I know there are millions of surfers that are unaware of this as they pay no attention to it - they just look at search results and click what they want.

In return their results will not really be accurate - I hope i'm making sense.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

There's a setting to disable that I think or you accepted it at one point or another.

True, but im sure the average internet surfer wouldn't even notice this.

but my point is to reflect or focus on our SEO efforts. How might this affect us.

Google is moving towards personalized search more and more every month, if they can better "understand" the users habits they can deliver far more targeted results.

Also it has the benefit of being a factor that SEO's won't be able to manipulate, all you can do is build good sites and hope it appeals to a large number of peoples personalized searches.
