Google CSE - "modifying" code

Is it allowed to enter additional data into the html input fields of the google custom search?
    My problems are as follows:
My css design uses different classes for different html input tags (as far as I know there is no other solution to give a submit button and a text field a different design?!). Because there is a text and a submit field in the cse code, I need to enter something like "class=mybutton" and "class=mytextfield".
    Does this violate google tos?

Is it against the tos to enter a value to the google search input textfield?
I'm providing a small niche search engine myself and would like to offer a service like "not satisfied? try to find blabla on google"
Of course, when entering a "predefined" value, the watermark will disappear. But there are other look-and-feel layouts with google brand next to the form.

    Any help appreciated!
