you can check this in thegoogle webmaster tool.
Or if you have access to your log files you can always check there.

The more backlinks you have the more often Google will 'hit' your site, obviously backlinks of high-traffic, established sites will help. You can also set the crawl rate within webmaster tools

Checking your web log files is one way to check how often you've been visited. If you look at AWStats it'll show the last time Google visited. For some of my less popular sites this is once a day, for my high traffic sites, once a minute.

In the Google webmaster Tool - Site configuration - Settings there is an option to change the crawl rate but it is not allowed all the time.
So the best way is then to build more backlinks.

The AwStats section of your Fantastico hosting panel would be an excellent tool to check out the daily reports about the search engines robots hits including the those of Google's.

type in info:yourdomain there is a link Google's cache on this page you will see a date displayed

That aside the bots come and go on a regular basis, the stronger your site the more active the bots will be. I can add an article to my site and within half an hour it will be displayed in Google's results. A few years back this could take a week

Server logs tell you specifically when bots have been active
