I think it will be hard to crack on all of them, because some may be popular with users only in particular countries and may not even have a web ranking for the terms like "download youtube video", etc. They may even be blocking google bot.

there are so many of them, hard to crack down all. besides, just deindexing the site or lowering the ranking for a site doesn't bring the site down. google doesn't own those sites so they can't shut them down.

also, there are lot of tools that are desktop converters. how google is gonna shut those down?

Makes sense since it is in their TOS. I am sure the music industry isn't happy about those sites either.

Then they wouldn't show in the SERPS to begin with and it won't be much a problem for those sites, and then no one would find them to begin with.

I guess that they are really trying to clean house. Its not like this was completely unforseen either, esp with how they are really trying to clean up everything related to them on the internet.

its hard to shut those sites down but they are all driven on links to the content. They will probley start changing the links to the content.

I think Google had the rights to crackdown these type of sites, because they are hiding Google's YouTube Popularity.

Another big boss type attitude by Google. But, the amount of these types of service sites are really big and if google continues to do that, it will be another massive flow on that sector. :(

Most of those kind of sites do not use Youtube Api. You take the link from Youtube and post in the site. Don't think Google can do much about it.
