Google Counts Links Only - Help me out!!

    Hi,

I am relatively new to online business and I need some help from the fellow webmasters all around DP. I am actually planning to start a blog on a specific topic and I just saw the site ranking at the first place on the specific keyword I want to use for my site has around 5000 inlinks (Found through Yahoo Site Explorer).

    Now, here are my questions:

    1) If I get more than links in the meantime for that keyword than the site already has, does it guarantee me the first place for that keyword in Google?

    2) What are inlinks? I mean does Google only check backlinks or any link? I know backlinks are important for PR, but will I necessarily require all those inlinks to be backlink only for ranking first?

    3) If the domain name and the keyword I want to highlight are different, how will Google identify that? (I mean suppose, I have a website health.com and I want to promote the keyword "health standards"; then how Google will know that I am promoting the keyword "health standards"? Does it require that all those links should have anchor text "health standards" or different anchor texts will do, provided I use "health standards" multiple times in my blog contents).

I know the questions are quite long but it will be really great if you can provide me with some help.

    Thanks & Regards.

    1. No - not all links are equal. The harder a link is to get, the more value it has. Plus, an older established site has an advantage over a new site.
    2. Google counts links back to your site. nofollow links are a bit of a grey area - they turn up in WebMaster Tools, but Google doesn't follow them.
    3. Use your keyword - and variations on it - in your page title, h1 header, in the content, in navigation and in anchor text back to your site. Using variations of it - synonyms and long tails is important. Using the same keyword all over the place looks spammy and gets treated as such.

    1) Getting as many links as your competitor is good but its not sure that you will rank higher than that website. The reason is that Google also take in concern the quality of links and the age of website and also many other factors. IN latest they also uses tweets to find out ranking.

    2) Backlinks are link coming to any site. Google do count no-follow links but only in certain cases. Generally do-follow links are counted.

    3) When you use anchor text. This is the only place where Google find out whether the website is best suited for the query. Use anchor text of the keyword you want.

Google Does't count links!! It count links from the high valued websites, if you are linked to the sites that have high authority it automatically increases yours, and the most important factor, important than the "links" itself is the CONTENT of your website. that is valued the most.

Thanks for your advice. Well, high authority website thing is determined by which factor:

    1) Age of the website or
    2) The Page Rank of the website.

    Can you explain please?

Definitely High PR has high authority and for high PR these Factor are most important
    "CONTENT" is the king
    Anchor text
    Meta Tag & the
    Quality backlinks
Aged websites with less PR is worthless rather new websites with high PR are of more importance.

Thanks for explaining it all. I am now trying to obtain backlinks from reputed sites which fall under my niche. Can you tell me about a good Do Follow blog finder tool. I prefer an automated service (If there any though).
Just got that advice from one who posted prior to you. Anyway, I appreciate your input to this thread. Every suggestion is valuable to me.

As this totally depends on your site structure and purpose, their r many websites that provide free backlinks you have to Google ur requirements out, I ll advice you to take back links only from those with PR3 and above else will be of no use. There are many automated tools to do the job but doing it manually will have more affect, as changed anchor tags and tittle tags will be helpful.

Thanks a lot for your advice. Actually, I was looking for an automated tool to find the do follow blogs related to my niche, not one to post comments automatically for me. I can do comment posting myself but finding do follow blogs seems to be a tough task.

I am really late this time responding. Anyway, I checked out the link. It seems good but free version is not helping me that much anyway. I think upgrading to the gold edition should be a better way.
