Nofollow links are GREAT if obtained in the right way. Examples, You comment on a highly relevant blog post and use an innocuous brand anchor for your name and input your web URL to create hyperlink. Leave a quality comment to make sure it "sneaks past the goalie" (the comment moderator) Keep doing this and this will ABSOLUTELY 1000% improve your sites authority and rankings, using a universally recognized avatar like gravatar also helps establish authority. Place the comments strategically on the sites with the Highest PR and lowest OBL (outbound links) with the most relevancy to your topic.

Other examples of GOOD nofollow links, sitewide no follow "website developed by ________" links Also Widget Links/Theme Links with Brand anchor and nofollow attribute. Nofollow Image Links. Think of Nofollow links as building a presence of authority, If google sees you comment on every article in your industry and its relevant, that would mean you are a thought leader in that niche, and give you social authorirty amongst the blog readers and also within the algorithms. Its the same with youtube links and other nofollow social links. Get them from high authority accounts and they will help your rankings. I've seen a guy rank his website 1st page on a super competitive keyword just from links from a youtube account with over 1 millions views... All those links were nofollow but google knows his youtube account with 1 million views makes him a thought leader in his niche. Something to think about....

Tim Gallant couldn't have said it better. You need to be found, so get the nofollow links, and combine them with the other links that add juice and improve your PR. You need all of this.

The only difference between dofollow and nofollow is that nofollow does not pass page rank. The spiders follow all links regardless of dofollow or nofollow.

Exactly. And, there are examples when "dofollow" links aren't followed.

None of the search engines pass juice/flow/metrics/rank but some will follow and index the link. It varies slightly between search engines.

See, No follow link is good, It makes your blog posts/guest posts more natural. I believe one link in the article body should be no follow, It does not give any benefit regarding page rank but it can help you to get valid users to your site/blog.

Excuse me, but that's not true... Proof -> Backlinks from Social Media, a lot of NOFOLLOW Social Bookmarking sites, most video sharing sites... ;)
