Hi All I am going through a typical problem under google. The situation is like I had 3 sites - www.myvacations.co.uk, www.shortbreak.uk.com and www.citybreak.uk.com All these sites were earlier running under the same ip for some time. After that I changed the ip and folder for www.shortbreak.uk.com and www.citybreak.uk.com But still after 10 days, when I check for the cache result for both sites i.e. http://72.14.203.104/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-08,GGLJ:en&q=cache%3Awww.shortbreak.uk.com for shortbreak.uk.com and http://72.14.203.104/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-08,GGLJ:en&q=cache%3Awww.citybreak.uk.com for citybreak.uk.com I get the cache page of myvacations. However they are okay in yahoo and msn. But I dont understand what should I do to correct them in Google. Now this is not over here. I searched my site in Google as - www.shortbreak.uk. com and then checked the cache from the result. What I got was http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:tAD0YYmGbp4J:www.shortbreak.uk.com/+www.shortbreak.uk.+com&hl=en&gl=uk&ct=clnk&cd=5 It was from the same data center as above mentioned, but it showed the correct cache result. The same happend with citybreak.uk.com http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:KTXPaOfjuV4J:www.citybreak.uk.com/+www.citybreak.uk.+com&hl=en&gl=uk&ct=clnk&cd=8 This is something I'm finding quite difficult to understand. Please help me. How can I rectify this error? Is the problem is at the Google's end? If so, where can I report Google. And if the problem is at my end how can I correct myself.
Hi, Google has assimilated shortbreak to myvacations, did the sites were duplicated at some points in the past? Have you tried to uploada Google sitemap for both? Working on backlinks would also help differentiate them.. Also on shortbreak your iframe footer.htm is broken.. Good luck, Johann
Hi Webcertain Thanks for your interest. Yes you are right, all the three sites were duplicate before. I have uploaded sitemap for all site. But google is showing error (incorrect url) for the sitemap of shortbreak.uk.com I have checked my sitemap. Every URL is correct. Please suggest.
Googlebot is much cleverer than Yahoo and MSN as it uses persistent connections when it visits your server to reduce the load. Some old apache servers don't manage the connections properly and serve up the wrong site. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/mego
Hi Mad4 I have already gone throught the Matt Cutt's blog. Now how can I get rid of this trouble. Regards.
This tool indactes that your sitemap.xml for shortbreak is "Not recognised as W3C XML Schema or RDDL: html".. Cheers, Johann
I assume if there was any easy fix matt would have posted it. Try contacting your host and get them to buy a new server.
Please be more specific. Do you want me to change my ip once more or get my site hosted on another server or change my host.
Well if the sitemap.xml is not valid, it's just not going to work and as I haven't got access to the sitemap account I cannot see the exact error message.. On a broader view Sitemaps, for a non established site, is not going to hurt, keeping in mind than it's not enough and that being crawled via backlinks is a better option... Cheers, Johann
Honestly, I think that you should stick it out. This problem is Google's. Here's my take on this: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=891139&postcount=40 The whole thread is interesting, if you can ignore some of the bickering: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=83585 It may have to do with the apache version run on the server, but at the same time I am having a hard time finding examples on servers that might have the problem. Are these sites set up as 'add-on domains' pointed to a folder, or do they have a full hosting account (email, etc.)?
There have been problems with Google sitemaps as of late. I can't see the sitemap file causing such big problems because Google's bots are pretty smart and the sitemap file would probably be ignored if there were technical problems with it.
