Google will acquire it for $165 x 10 million .. if they suspect that it can beat them in any way. Google will never let any search engine establish this strong.

It's not about the money involved, but the actual programming and how it changes the way the user gets information.

Yahoo's billions outweighs this new startup's $165 millions, and we all know Google has more market share than Yahoo.

That domain name is definitely weak...since they're German and want to tackle Google my recommendation:

165$ million is nothing unless they hire the best coders/devs/seo's. Google has the best, thats why they are on top.

Yeah - with even 1% of that money, you can pay an entire neighborhood to spend at least an hour of their time to think about a killer domain name!

There already is. Yahoo and Microsoft Live Search.

Yet, having all of their financial backing did not do anything to help them take Google's market share. Why? Google is point-and-click to the extreme - type what you want and click a button. It's a site not loaded with features that most people won't ever use like Yahoo and it surely looks alot better on a homepage then Microsoft Live.

This new project will be exactly the same, and just as fruitless. Just think of how many people in Africa could have their lives improved by that funding, yet we're worring about pettisome 'Google Killers'.

    *sigh*

Don't forget about Ask when talking about the leading search engines. They are pretty simple like Google too, so is Live.

Google is NOT the 'global' presence that some people think it is, neither is the West - king.

The US accounts for less than 20% of global internet presence. Google search accounts for around 30% of searches. Hardly what you would call domination.

Europe has a much larger internet presence, (but even that is dwarfed by Asian presence) - so it makes sense that people from that region feel the the need for a search facility that will be more 'euro-friendly'.

It's obvious this would turn into a USA vs. "The Rest" Thread..
It's just a research program, if they do or not exsist, what's the difference does it make to us all?

You also don't have to be the BEST to exist or make profit, if it was, all the webmasters here will be obsolete.

It's good that google is being thrown out like that, but with a name like that, it's a waste of money.

Well it is impossible to beat the dominance of Google by anyway.Even if they succeed to get some kind of success in EU sooner or later it would be taken by Google.

Wasn't another site like this backed by the European Union supposed to do the same thing a few years ago? Nobody can stop the Google.
