I was thinking the same thing and there is another post for a domain with AdSense in it.

I've heard of nothing but trouble with domains like this but I suppose you would be buying it keeping that in mind.

    Good Luck!

As a matter of fact, I have not used the domain so far. You maybe right. But I have heard that you have get permission from google to use their trademark in some points. Read the Google policies and you will find about what I am saying.

Indeed, simply that it's an issue to be careful and informed about when using domains containing the names of other companies - if a trademark infringement is perceived, the domain can be ordered offline.

Having domain names like that is only asking for trouble i saw the other week google got a site closed down for using its trademark the site that google shut was googlefone.com if you ask me the people who register names like that are dumb and deserve everything they get.

Like Arasp said, If you are able to get permission from Google, you'll be fine. The purchaser will have to establish what their chances are of getting that permission.

You can't copyright a book or movie title. That is just that, a title.

Websites are another media to deliver information just like a book or movie.

We should create a movement to make a URL like a book title and stop this sillyness of someone owning a title when the media's that preceeded the internet publishing method have already set the presidence.

We have to stop these corpations from thinking they can buy anything they want. If we don't, at this rate, we will need a friggin license to use most common words.

    This is rediculous!

I know this guy called Atgo Ogle (Ukranian - o with the umlaut though). He might be interested.

googlefone is causing them a headache since I'm sure Google will be in the Voip business soon.

I assure you if someone was trying to sell people email addresses that they say were the equivalent to @mydomain I would certianly send out a letter from my solicitor and make it hard enough for them that it was easier to just not persue it.

Would I win if it actually went to court? I have no idea but 99% of the time it doesn't go that far because the owner isn't willing to bear the expense.

You're right it would be a nightmare. Kinda like

    www.casinounderscoregambling.com

But Google doesn't quite think that way in my experience. I wasn't arguing whether its right or not for Google to persue the case nor even if they would win or not.

But would anyone lay out all those legal fees over a $5 domain just to be right?
