Hey all, Since last Thursday (4th June '09) Google.co.uk has changed loads, i.e. there are loads of American sites etc, more spam - what is going on? The results are no way near as good as they use to be. Can anyone explain what is happening?
I have noticed this also. I think Google is trying a few U.S sites in the search to see how users respond. I have noticed US sites on page 1 for a search, then page 2, then page 3, then back to page 1. I think Google might stick with the sites that are popular and drop the ones that are not so popular or relevant.
i agree with u dave i think google is leaving those sites which have very low popularity and pr. google only showing those sites which are popular and have good pr and bl.
I first noticed this happening in a couple of niches about 6 weeks ago. The site's then went on to dissappear within 7days. As of last week they have started creeping back in again. Worrying times!
Yeah I'd agree that the SERPs in google.co.uk are changed from a week or so ago, wikipedia has just appeared top 10 for a few keywords where it was nowhere before....it isn't even helpful for these particular terms!!....and has pushed me down. I hope they put things back the way they were as it seems to me that some relatively crap sites are getting ahead of me now which sucks.
