Right, I've got a site ( http://tinyurl.com/ ) that over the last 6 months I've been trying to improve SEO wise. I'm getting decent results in Google.com for my keywords... "spurs blog" - 4th on page 1 "spurs forum" - 9th on page 1 "spurs wallpapers" - 5th page 1 "tottenham hotspur forum" - 3rd page 1 etc etc.. Google.co.uk on the other hand... "spurs blog" - 8th page 5 "tottenham hotspur forum" - 9th page 1 "spurs wallpapers" - 7th page 3 etc.. I need to start improving on Google.co.uk asap! Spurs are a London based football club, hence me wanting traffic from the UK. Anyone got any tips or explanations? (I'm not great with SEO, and haven't done much research on this)
When you want to be ranked high in UK, get links from UK. Even if its still the same language (I guess by now you gather links from sites around the world written in english), geolocation is the main factor. And keep these links related to your topic.
Yes. Get backlinks from the uk websites to improve ranking in google uk. Its not possible to get high rank in all country's local google search engine.
You could 1.) Get links from .co.uk websites 2.) Host your site on UK servers. 3.) enable the " Associate a geographic location with this site" in your webmaster tools account.
Think that's where I've probably been going wrong Thanks I've never checked, doubt I am (with Hostgator). I won't be changing! Already done Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll be looking to get more .co.uk backlinks from now on
I'm from the UK and I only ever use the .co.uk search engine when I want to buy something from the UK.
To rank good on Google.ccTLD, you have to get links from that country. That means that the sites you should get links from should be hosted in the UK.
