Have many people messed around with Google Co-Op? I saw that Alister Cameron had used it to create a serach engine for Lee Odden's favourite internet marketing blogs. - http://www.alistercameron.com/sem-search/ In a moment of inspiarion I've created one for the main internet marketing forums - http://www.promarketing.org/2007/01/16/internet-marketing-forum-search-engine/ What other applications have people found for it? I noticed it's pretty flexible - even with it's own API.
I thought I read it was actually possible to mess (fine tune ) the actual results. The AJAX part is that it's the AJAX API which replaced the SOAP API last month.
I was thinking of using it for a personal resource more than anything also. I like the way you can filter most of the 'noise' out of a serach and concentrate on the sites you're interested in.
I gave this tool a try and it didn't seem to give any preference to the websites I listed, I just got back normal google results. Which doesn't really do me much good if I wanted to promote my own sites and earn revenue off it.
To fine tune the results, you can play with the BOOST mode and the weight attribute in the context file for some labels you've attributed to the URL patterns (in the annotations label file) you want to promote or demote. http://www.google.com/coop/docs/cse/cse_file.html You can also use the score attribute in the annotation file, but it's trickyer http://www.google.com/coop/docs/cse/label_file.html Note sure my explanation is clear I created one for searching SEO blogs and Forums
