This showed up in my Inbox yesterday. What do y'all think? Using Google's Co-op to Rank #1 by Matthew Coers If you aren't familiar with Google's Co-op program, then you may want to start looking into it. Essentially Co-op is a relatively new program that is designed to incorporate human feedback into Google's results. The Co-op database is still in its infancy, and is not particularly useful for most searches. However it can be a very useful tool for putting your website high atop the rankings for your most important prospects – and you can implement it on your website in just a few minutes. A Brief Overview of Co-op Co-op is actually two completely different programs rolled into one project. The first part of co-op is URL association. This is where human editors review websites and associate them with various "labels" or keywords. When a user performs a search for a general term (e.g. "Diabetes"), Co-op will display a list of labels to help the user drill down to a more specific set of results. The second part of Co-op is called "Subscribed Links". This is basically where users can subscribe to an individual publisher's information. This is useful for those who already know that they trust content from certain publishers. By subscribing to that website's content, Google knows to feature content from that website first for certain types of search queries. ...
I've never used my profile.. So not sure if this will work. I'm subscribed to some profile which gives me search results in google when searching for specific terms. Maby in the future google will provide me with my personal search engine based on co-op subscriptions.
Yeah I looked at google's coop and didn't really like it. Is this supposed to be like digg or yahoo answers?
I edited my rss feed to add the coop tags but G says it has an error, but the error message is so useless, that I have no idea what needs to be corrected.
Congrats to Jim Karter on stealing my thunder!! It will turn into Gen 2 of Link exchange. Interesting thought however... Going to take this for a "whirl" on a new site and see what the effects are if any! Thanks Eric
I am a bit confused on how to go about making use of the coop. My I am in a subset of the insurance industry. Do I have to wait for them to add my category? Can anyone elaborate on it all?
I am certainly not sure of what this coop does, but it isn't good looking at the first sight for sure IT
This is my profile .. would somebody tell me why I can t see Free Google Adwords in my profile s page .... what did I messed http://www.google.com/coop/profile?user=007045359401882746799
So how do I get a label for my sites? If you Google for "Auckland" and see the label "dining guides" you will see that my Time2Dine site does not have a label. If I had one, I would be top, without it ... I have added the phrase "dining guides" to the page, and got some links for that phrase, and have increased in my ranking, but still need that label to actually get top. I have added an xml feed for it, but how do you get Google to use that for the public version. Good reading how to use google co-op http://www.infotoday.com/newsbreaks/nb060515-2.shtml Seems like its a bit of a hit and miss affair as to who got in originally, and not the easiest to get onto the listings - you have to get heaps of people to subscribe to your xml
